> Human version: http://ssr-app-zpimxgrglq-uc.a.run.app/listings/campgrounds/lower-treave-caravan-camping-park-penzance-cornwall

Lower Treave Caravan and Camping Park is a family run camping and touring caravan site set in the heart of the Lands End Peninsula amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the Duchy\. We are surrounded by the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty \(AONB\) which you can explore from the site, enjoying the ancient landscapes, culture and heritage\. Heather\-clad hills behind the site give panoramic views of the surrounding seas, and the chance to see some really spectacular sunsets\. Easy to find, we are situated just two miles from the Blue Flag beach of Sennen Cove and within easy reach of all the delightful coves and beaches of West Cornwall\.Beautifully maintained to show off the delights of the Cornish countryside, the site holds the prestigious David Bellamy Gold Award for conservation\. Mature trees and native hedging provide shelter and privacy to spacious tent, caravan and motorhome touring pitches, all set on enclosed terraced levels, surrounded by the fields and animals of our neighbouring farms\.All the usual facilities are available, including electric hook\-ups for touring units, a modern, well\-equipped toilet block with free hot showers, and an on\-site shop, which will supply your daily needs along with calor gas, camping gaz and a useful range of camping spares\. Indoor washing up sinks, free use of fridges and freezers and a small laundrette with modern washers, dryers and ironing facilities all help to make your stay comfortable and easy\. Free Wi\-Fi is available over the whole site for all laptop equipped guests, and an internet room is available for those who need to use a PC at nominal charge\. Lower Treave is happy to accept well\-behaved dogs\. Five Holiday Caravans are available for private hire\. The units were all new for 2009 and each has their own sun deck and a parking space\. They accommodate 4/6 persons and are self\-contained with their own shower and toilet facilities, full sized cooker, refrigerator, microwave oven and digital television/DVD\. More About UsLower Treave is owned and run by the Bliss family\. They have reflected on their own camping experiences and listened to customers over many years to try and create a friendly, comfortable and attractive site from which you can enjoy your holiday\.The site was originally established in the late 1960s from a single, sloping field\. Subsequent owners \(there have been three\) have each put their mark on the sites development including terracing, planting and landscaping\. Four separate enclosures have been created using traditional and ornamental hedging which provide 'wildlife corridors' around the park and essential windbreaks and privacy screening for pitches\. Certain areas are still allowed to grow 'wild', encouraging native species onto the park, whilst the main camping areas are well maintained grass\. Features include one of the original, and now well established, Bellamy Butterfly Bars, bird and owl boxes, a wildlife pond and park lighting which is kept to a minimum to encourage stargazing\.In 2010, the site was reorganised with fewer pitches overall and more space for everybody\. The site now covers some 5 acres in total with 56 touring pitches and 5 permanently sited modern Holiday Hire Caravans\. Since 2007, the site has been inspected under the David Bellamy Conservation Awards Scheme and we are delighted that the site has been given a Gold award in each year\.Holiday Caravan HireFive individually sited holiday caravans are available for hire at Lower Treave\. These were all new for 2009 and are Willerby Herald Gold 28x10 models, each with their own sun deck and parking area\. Set amongst the trees and hedgerows, they come fully equipped with all the conveniences of modern life\. There is a full sized cooker, fridge and micro\-wave, digital TV and DVD player, and a comfortable bathroom with WC, handbasin and thermostatically controlled shower\. All of the beds have sprung mattresses and the bedrooms have wardrobe space and plinth heating\.Free WiFi is available to all caravans and prices include gas and electricity\. Duvets and pillows are provided and guests are asked to bring their own bed linen, duvet covers, towels and tea\-towels\. However, for a complete break, why not hire your linen from us and we will make up the beds ready for your arrival\. If you bring your own travel cot, this can be accommodated in the second bedroom in place of one of the single beds\. These caravans comfortably accommodate 4 persons \(one double, two singles\), but up to an additional two guests can use a fold out bed in the lounge area at a small additional charge\. Short breaks \(minimum 3 nights\) are available during off\-peak\.Touring PitchesThe touring pitches are arranged on four separate levelled areas, surrounded by trees, hedges and bushes\. Each pitch is only a few metres from a water standpipe and we have 35 \- 10Amp electric hook\-ups available\. The park offers 3 types of touring pitch:Pitch Plus a 120m² touring pitch for all units with 10 amp electric hook\-up Pitch Large a 120 m² touring pitch for larger family tents without hook\-up Pitch Lite a smaller pitch of 60 m² suitable for back\-packers, cyclists and light\-weight campers\.The Toilets and Showers are modern, clean and well\-maintained with free hot water to showers and basins\. Hair dryers, hand dryers, metered sockets \(for the essential hair straighteners\) and heated towel rails are provided for your comfort and convenience\.There is an indoor washing\-up area with deep sinks, metered hot water and room to stack your pots\. The laundry is fitted with commercial washing machines, tumble dryers, iron and board\. Fridges and freezers are provided free of charge for you to store your food, drinks and freezer blocks\.The Camp Shop has a good selection of daily requirements, camping spares, calor gas and camping gaz cylinders\. For a nominal cost we will re\-charge your cellphone, laptop, camera and iPod batteries; please bring the necessary connecting leads\.Out and About Lower Treave is surrounded by wonderful attractions and activities, full details of which can be found in our information area\. We want you to have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday at Lower Treave, so we have done some stuff to give the planet a break whilst you stay with us\. As members of the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Network \(CoaST\) we try to make it easy for you to continue all the great green things you are doing at home whilst you are on holiday\. Don't worry, you won't have to sign up to any 'policies', wear a hairy shirt or beat yourself up on home\-grown muesli\. Just go with the 'eco\-flow' and if you have any useful suggestions about how we can make your stay more sustainable then please let us know\. Here are some of the things you will see happening around the site and might want to help out with\.Reduce \- We try and reduce the amount of energy the site consumes, without compromising on the quality of your holiday\. Low energy lighting is used throughout the site, and timers and sensors ensure we don't leave lights on when not needed\. Using a washing line instead of a tumble dryer is a new spin on an old technology, but the dryers are still there if you need them on the odd wet day\! Reuse \- Water butts catch the rain and then it is used to irrigate our pots, tubs and planters\. Compost bins are available to our guests \- next time you see your potato peelings they will be a healthy mulch on the flower beds\. Recycle \- Please re\-cycle as much as possible the bins are next to the rubbish skips which go to landfill\. Our aim is to get bigger recycling bins and smaller skips, but we can only do this if the demand is there from you\. Then we can ask our waste contractors to recycle more and landfill less\.Buy Local, Eat Local \- Holidays are a great time to try something different\. Why not use this opportunity to try some of the great fish out of Newlyn market, or some meat from one of our local butchers\. Sennen Farmers Market runs each week and is the place to buy fresh vegetables\. There are also great restaurants and pubs doing menus from locally sourced produce which are well worth a visit\. Getting About \- Here's an idea, how about planning one car\-free day during your holiday? We can give you all the information and timetables you need to get around on buses, boats and trains, either there and back, or circular trips\. Or, we may be able to arrange hire of an exciting electric car from our friends at www\.eco\-drive\.co\.uk \. This might be particularly useful to motorhome owners who want to use a smaller vehicle to explore the lanes and small coves of Cornwall\. What is more, hire, or arrive in an electric car and we will charge it up for free\! And, if you arrive on foot, bicycle or by public transport and stay at Lower Treave without a vehicle, we will give you a 5% discount on your total fees\! Holiday Caravans \- Our holiday caravans are manufactured by Willerby and built with the environment in mind\. Every care has been taken to ensure they minimise environmental impact, from the carefull selection of materials from sustainable resources through to energy efficient lighting, all manufactured in modern efficient factories employing class\-leading waste reduction management and recycling programmes\. Willerby have a strong 'green conscience' and were devising ways of reducing our environmental impact long before it became a hot topic\. In 2008 they announced an impressive waste recycling rate of 81% following the roll\-out of a number of new initiatives and years of investment into new technology and equipment\. All of their products are designed and manufactured paying careful consideration to the environment, starting with the sensible selection of raw materials\. Willerby pioneered the use of energy efficient lighting in the industry and their holiday homes are designed to provide optimal thermal and energy efficient properties throughout their lifetime\. They are committed to producing the highest quality products whilst running their business in a responsible, environmentally sound and sustainable manner\. We strive to provide 'A rated' appliances in the caravans wherever possible further helping you to reduce your own carbon footprint\.Future Energy Plans \- We currently buy in our electricity from 100% renewable sources \(mostly wind turbine\.\) As part of our longer term commitment, we have installed solar heating for the shower and toilet block to reduce gas consumption and are investigating the possiblity of generating our own electricity\. These things take time \(planning, government legislation, technical stuff\) and are quite a big investment for a small business, but we expect them to be on\-line soon\. Cornwall Wildlife Trust \- Lower Treave is a Corporate Member of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, supporting their work involved in conserving the many aspects of the county's wildlife and wild places\. You can help us to help them by supporting our visitor gifting scheme\. Simply help yourself to a cup of 'FairTrade' coffee in our information area and pop a few coins into the collecting box\. We will make sure that your contribution continues to support the great work of the Trust\. www\.cornwallwildlifetrust\.org\.ukDavid Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme \- David Bellamy Conservation Awards are made each year to parks which can demonstrate policies showing active concern for the environment\. Assisted by local nature groups and holidaymakers themselves, David Bellamy looks at virtually every aspect of park management \- from the protection of plant and animal habitats to the efficient use of energy and recycling\. Helping visitors to understand conservation is also considered an important qualifying feature\. Three levels of excellence can be achieved: Gold, Silver and Bronze\. Lower Treave is proud to have a Gold Award\. www\.ukparks\.com/bellamy\.asp CoaST \- The Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project has been working for some time with tourism businesses in Cornwall to help make tourism as sustainable as possible, benefiting the environment, the economy and the people of Cornwall\. And now they're working to help you \- our visitors \- to have a fantastic, low impact holiday that keeps Cornwall as beautiful and healthy as it is now\! Their work is based on that fact that wherever we go and whatever we do, we have an impact\. Make positive choices, and you can help us to care for Cornwall and make that impact a positive one\. www\.coastvisitors\.co\.ukDirectionsLower Treave is located just off the A30, midway between Penzance and Lands End\. From Penzance continue through the village of Crows\-An\-Wra and the site is sign\-posted ½ mile beyond, on the left hand side\. Ordnance Survey Grid Reference: SW 388273 Please note that during busy times, guests are asked not to arrive before the time given in their booking confirmation as your pitch may not have been vacated by previous occupants and serviced\. We have no room on\-site for additional parking\. A large, safe lay\-by on the A30 just ¼ mile before the entrance to the site makes a convenient stop\-over whilst waiting for your pitch\. You can ring the site from there \(01736 810559\) and we will call you forward as soon as your pitch is available; a complimentary coffee will be available to guests who have waited for their pitches\. Departing guests are asked to vacate touring pitches by midday and holiday caravans by 11am\.
