      "reviewBody": "The host provided written details to get to the site, but the GPS navigation will take you directly there as well. Upon arriving at the property, you enter a big long open field with a beautiful view of the mountains and the tree line. When you make it to the trees, you can easily make a choice between five available campsites per first come first serve availability. Luckily, we were the only ones there this past weekend so we had the whole place to ourselves all day long except for one late camper that came in after dark. Every site there is a good size for a group of people and it has at least two tables in each and possibly a bench in some as well. The day I went with my two sons for Father’s Day weekend it rained on us for a good portion of the day, but we were able to put a tarp over the picnic table and still were able to cook food and hang out outside. We waited out the storm and then the sun broke through and we went fishing for the rest of the day right from our campsite.  I definitely wanna come back. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻"

      "reviewBody": "We loved our camp site! Very cozy and wooded. Our favorite part was walking out to the field at night to see the stars. Our site has a picnic table and near the water. Our kids had a blast. Convenient location to all the activities in natural bridge like the safari park!"

      "reviewBody": "This was our first time camping. The site and toilets were very clean. We had site #3 and there was plenty of shade to keep cool, easy access to the river. The floor was mostly wood chips so not muddy at all which was great. Stores and gas stations are a short drive away so we were able to drive out and grab some last minute items. Site 3 offers great privacy if you back your car in to the entrance. The trains weren’t very frequent but they do blare their horns, which was very loud. My husband is a very light sleeper and ear plus would not be enough. We did end up packing up and leaving to go home for bed because of my husband’s sleep issues but that’s no fault of the site! Would happily come back again but with a white noise machine. This is a great spot for new campers to learn the ropes. Great for stargazing too and perfect for dogs!"

      "reviewBody": "We had a great summer solstice adventure at James River Depot in Site #4!  The layout was perfect with enough space between sites to maintain privacy.  There were also plenty of hammock trees.  The river was running above flood stage, so we didn't get to use it to cool off as much as we had hoped, but it was fun to watch the herons and ducks.  We also spotted a bald eagle nearby.  The wood chips laid in the sites was a nice touch and prevented things from getting muddy.  We cooked two meals over a fire on the provided grates which was fun.  The port-a-johns were well-maintained and were actually serviced during our stay.  There was a hand sanitizer dispenser in each.  The wood supply was good and the cash box was nice since we didn't purchase via HipCamp ahead of time.  Wendy was also very accommodating about a last minute addition to our group.  The dogs absolutely loved their stay here.  We took them on loop walks on the mowed edges of the field and they enjoyed taking dips in the river.  There is plenty of poison ivy around, so heads up.  There's plenty to do nearby if you want to venture out.  We visited Preddy Point just down the road for great views of the river and train trellis, Natural Bridge SP, Devil's Marbleyard, and the James River overlook on Rt. 501.  We also followed a walking path along the river at the Glasgow boat launch where the Maury enters the James.  Mostly though, we enjoyed our quiet time at camp, loafing, reading books, and enjoying the space!   "
