We were not informed of any bear activity in the area or told a proper place to store our food (we did not see the host despite being at our campsite from 5pm to 9am, and did not have service to send a message to the host). If we were alerted about the bear activity we would have happily properly stored our food and scented items. In addition the outdoor kitchen and open trashcans would help attract the bear. We left after that night as we did not feel comfortable staying in an area where the hosts were that inconsiderate of the wildlife whose habitat they are encroaching on.
