As I think most if not all the people who book this place, do so because they think they will be camping where the picture in the profile was taken. WRONG. The sites are actually not where the site pictures are and you are now forbidden to camp there. Upon driving in I saw the sign for site 1, but not site 2. I saw a picnic table but the area was overgrown and I saw no firepit so I continued on. I came up to the area that you see advertised, assuming this was site 2. There was a picnic table and fire pit as advertised. The fire pit was broken though and it was pretty much completely overgrown except for a small patch near the gigantic cross. As someone who is not religious, this was quite annoying to have a cross in your line of vision for most of the day. On day 2, a nice man rode up the area and informed me that the owners wanted him to put up a sign, prohibiting camping there. I asked him where site 2 was then (since I set up camp where the picture shows site 2 is) and he didn't know. I then went looking and found site 2, but the rotten wooden post that says \"2\" had been knocked over so you can only see it if you really look. The area where you think you'll be camping, and the actual site 2 is completely overgrown. Grass up to your knees. and the sites has no views at all. You'd have to walk to the area that is advertised to see anything. It is a very peaceful site with a lot of privacy. Our only concern was that site 2 was very overgrown and had a lot of ticks. Definitely would recommend wearing long pants and bring bug spray! The road is a little rocky, but we were able to get up it in a Subaru Crosstrek without a problem. There’s only two campsites which gave us plenty of space and privacy. There was no one at the other site while we stayed so we had the whole thing to ourselves. I don’t think this location can be beat based on the views, seclusion, closeness to AVL. We will for sure be back!\n\nSite 2 didn’t really have a sign so we first drove past it and up to the private property which is now clearly identify with signs stating “no camping, no fires”. We circled back and found site 2. It is more tucked away than site 1 and resembles a grass driveway. The picnic table for site 2 is separated from the rest of the site which was a little confusing at first but it is still within a few steps. \n\nSite 1 has better views AT the site for a sunset. Site 2, as I said, is more tucked away and you’re surrounded by shrubs. To get the great views you will need to walk about 100’ or so to the marked private property signs. Since no one else was there it was really no issue for us. We took our chairs and watched both the sunset and sunrise. Highly recommend to anyone needing to escape the city for a day." } ] }
