Just a mile in the opposite direction is Northfield Farm Shop\.Greendale is an ideal base for walking, cycling, bird watching, art, eating out, heritage, Barnsdale Gardens and of course Rutland Water\. This huge scenic reservoir has nature reserves, famous for the osprey project; water sports; fly fishing; cycle\-routes & more, with attractive stone villages nearby\.Greendale is 6 miles from Rutland Water, 4 miles from Oakham & 6 miles from Melton Mowbray\. Lying halfway between London & York, Rutland is found in East Midlands with close proximity to Leicester, Nottingham, Lincoln & Peterborough\.The SiteGreendale has the advantage of being small, only twelve/thirteen pitches \(5 open in the winter\), yet superb facilities with well\-maintained pitches\. Ignore the first two turnings to Whissendine\. Turn left 0\.6 mile after the Rutland sign and 150yds after a triangular small left turning sign & opposite a brown camping sign\. \(This is the start of a new road layout on the A606 with a central turning lane\!\) The campsite is approximately 0\.6 mile along on your right\.From Oakham: Follow the A606 towards Melton\. Ignore the first turning to Whissendine but take the second smaller turning on the right, opposite a camping sign\. \(At this point the A606 is an uphill section with a central turning lane\!\)
