Of the total 35 pitches there are 15 season pitches while the remaining 20 are used on an ad\-hoc basis for both short and longer stays\. We also have on\-site storage available for the frequent visitor for whom we operate a pitch and store service\.Brickyard Farm Lakes is located in North Yorkshire's beautiful Ryedale only 3 miles from Malton giving easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds and the East Coast\. York, to the South and Scarborough to the North East are around 30 \- 40 minutes drive away\.Visitors to our site have identified over 20 different bird species and the very lucky have enjoyed the company, albeit for a very short time, of roe deer\.Brickyard Farm lakes' has many attractions within very easy reach\. For the young at heart there is Flamingo Land, only a few minutes away by car\. Whilst the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Bridlington are comfortably within a 45 minute drive\.For the culture seekers there is Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and the many museums located in this part of North Yorkshire\. Of these the most notable are probably Eden Camp's Modern History Museum just off the A64 at Malton and the AircraftMuseum at Elvington, again close to the A64\. York, only 30 minutes away, boasts the Yorvyk Centre, the Railway Museum, the Farming museum and many others\. The Pickering to Whitby steam railway is a very popular attraction\.Being surrounded by the Howardian Hills, the Wold and the Yorkshire Moors we have some of the most beautifully scenery in the country on our door step\.Local author, Geoff Brooks, has identified over 30 walks all of which start within 3 or 4 miles of us and provide for all stamina's\. If you really want to stretch yourself then Dalby Forrest has some excellent walks and cycle rides\.The surrounding area boasts a number of village/town markets and some well appointed Sunday car boot sales\. A list of local market days is kept in reception next to the 'Pub Grub' recommendations list\.FishingBrickyard Farm Lakes is a well established Coarse Fishery where visitors can simply sit and enjoy the tranquility of its three lakes or fish them at very reasonable cost\.Old Lake \(or Amotherby Pond if your map is old enough\) is more than one hundred years old and contains a variety of coarse fish\. Bream range from 5oz skimmers to very healthy 3\+ ponders\. Chasing the excellent head of both roach and rudd can be seen quite respectable sized perch; the heaviest caught to date weighed over 4 pounds\.Abbie Pond was excavated in the mid 1990's and has matured well\.\. While the upper island yearly provides residence for a breading pair of geese the water has a mixed selection of silver fish, The dominant species here is the carp and the pond boast a good selection of both mirror and common carp\. Patience can reward the enthusiast with leather carp which although quite young are topping the pound and a half mark\. After a very muggy winter the late 2013 spring has seen all three varieties boosted with the start of a re\-stocking program\. To keep things interesting a good number of 3lb plus fish have been introduced and these can be seen patrolling the margins\.Jacob's Cut is the newest lake being constructed for the millennium only completed in the spring of 2001\. It too has benefited from the restocking program and has had its head of roach and rudd augmented with tench and crucian carp\. Extensive re\-landscaping of Jacobs has made it more open rendering it more accessible to both float and pole\.PoliciesDogs & Other PetsBeing dog & cat owners ourselves we are pleased for our customers to bring their own pets\. We are however quite rigid in our rules regarding the pets particularly dogs\. The main rule is that the animals must not in any way be intrusive to other visitors to the site\. This is most applicable to dogs which must be kept on leads at all times on the site and their owners must ensure that any soiling is cleaned up and disposed of hygienically\. Aggressive, unfriendly or highly strung yapping dogs are definitely unwelcome and the owners will be asked to remove them from the site It must be remembered that we are not a kennels and insist that at no time are the dogs left at the site unattended by a responsible adult\. In the event that we ask you to leave the site after infringement of these rules no refund will be given\.ChildrenAlthough we are not an adult only site and welcome children of all ages we stress that there is no play area for children \(ball games are not allowed\) and there is very deep water in close proximity to all caravan pitches\. With this in mind it is probable that we would not be the first choice for young families\. We insist that children of all ages are not allowed to roam freely on the site and that any non swimmers must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult\.Tent Area and Cleanliness in GeneralIn recent years we unfortunately have had some very poorly behaved tenters\. Regrettably this has spoilt things for those who we would be pleased to have as neighbours and friends\. We ask that tenters don't use the bushes surrounding the tent area for rubbish disposal\. There are adequate disposal facilities by the washing area\. It is obvious not to have heat sources close to the ground so we are happy to allow charcoal or gas bar\-b\-ques as long as they are on a non\-flammable raised plinth or stand\. We prefer the HOT base to be at least a foot \(30cm\) off the ground\. Please note wood fires of any kind are not permitted\. A less obvious problem comes from placing a hot pan or kettle directly on the ground\. These will scorch or even burn grass which is not pleasant for future campers\.General Fishing RulesBarbless Hooks OnlyBaits Used in moderationThe management reserves the right to search and examine all tackle at the peg and to expel any person with illegal tackle or bait from the site\.Keep nets are only permitted in the fortnightly caravaner's match\.All Landing nets must be dipped before going to the bankNo Alcohol to be consumed at the peg\.All litter, including cigarette butts, must be removed from the site at the end of a session\. This includes surplus bait which must not be disposed of in the lakes\.Night Fishing \(from dusk until dawn\) is not allowed\.Leaving tackle on a platform does not reserve a peg and will be removed by the management\.Banned Baits \(see list below\) must not be taken to the pegBlood Worm, & JokerBoilliesNuts of all kinds, including Tiger & PeanutsSweet CornPet Foods of any kindOther meats may be allowed, e\.g\. Luncheon meat, only as hook bait, but please ask before using\. Personal Keep Nets are not allowed\-\-Keep Nets are provided by BFL for the bi\-weekly match\.'Old Lake' is restricted to residents only; but this is not hard and fast for pegs 11 to 17\.Day Ticket visitors should seek permission from reception to fish Old Lake\.
