All over the property \(now woods\) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields\. The second farm house was built in 1901\. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time\. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings\. There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest\. Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since\. It was a lovely experience. The tent itself is huge and constructed wonderfully. The outhouse was probably the nicest one I have ever used. The site was pretty muddy due to the amount of rain the area had gotten recently. Our dogs had a great time running around checking everything out. We loved walking around the site and trails looking at all the different mushrooms growing. The only issue we had was the cart was very low on air in the tires which made the trek in a bit difficult especially since it was raining. Next time I would arrange for a ride for the load in.
